ABS Rear Wheel - Removing/Reinstalling | | |
| The large 2003/2004 Yamaha FJR1300 Service Manual depicts rear wheel removal/reinstallation only for the standard model FJR1300. You have to buy the 2004 FJR1300 Supplemental Manual for information on changes regarding the 2004 FJR1300-ABS model, introduced to North America in the summer of '03.
Removing the ABS rear wheel is basically the same as the instructions for: Removing the standard FJR1300 Rear Wheel, except for the addition of the ABS Sensor Ring (items #2 and #9 in below diagram).
The exploded diagram for the ABS Rear Wheel is buried deep in this 140-page Supplemental Manual; the first time you see it isn't until page 110! One aspect of ABS Rear Wheel reinstallation that the Manual does not do a very good job of showing is the proper orientation of the ABS Sensor Ring when reinstalling the wheel.

ABS Sensor Ring Oreintation:
The Supplemental Manual does describe the correct ABS Sensor Ring and Brake Caliper orientaion, but only with black/white drawings. There are marks on both the Sensor Ring (depicted by green arrow) and the Brake Caliper (depicted by yellow arrow) that will be aligned if the wheel is installed correctly, as you can see below:
