Announcing the 2004 Cal 24 Endurance Rally | |
We are proud to announce the 2004 version of the Cal 24 Endurance Rally! This year there are several changes, along with the fun and tradition that people have come to expect from the Cal 24 over the years. One of the changes is that I have handed over the reigns of the route to IBR veteran Mike Heran. As many of you know, Mike has been instrumental in putting on past rallies. This year Mike wanted more input in route selection, so I told him "Go for it!" I?m sure everyone will be pleased with the roads Mike will send you out on. No one knows the great motorcycle roads in California better than Mike. As with last year, Gary Kunich will be in our hearts and minds. As many of you know, Gary was a founder of the Cal 24 Rally, and his tragic death has left us with a hole in our hearts, but I know Gary will be with us once again in this years Rally. The start/finish line will be in Dunnigan California, which is 35 miles NW of Sacramento, near the intersection of I5 and I505. This is about an hour from the San Francisco Bay Area. The details will be sent with the Rally Pack after we receive your entry. The rally will start with Check In on June 11th. The rally will start the morning of Saturday, June 12th, and finish on the morning of June 13th. The banquet will follow in early afternoon the 13th. Entry is open to anyone. Entry fee is $150. Your entry fee will include the rally, a rally shirt, finisher awards and one entry to the banquet. Additional shirts and banquet tickets will be available. Additional shirts are $20 additional banquet tickets are also $20. The rally will consist of a base route of at least 1000 miles, with at least 4 checkpoints, of which 3 will be mandatory. The minimum miles to be an official finisher will be about 700. There will be many additional bonus locations, and activities that could add to the riders total mileage. Any rider successfully making all the checkpoints in the allotted time will earn an Iron Butt Assn. Saddle Sore certificate, and membership in the Iron Butt Assn. Further details will be included in the Rally Pack. Last years Rally found riders going everywhere from Mountains, forests, desert, and even kayaking on Lake Tahoe. Don?t miss out on what we have in store for you this year! The rally will be limited to the first 100 riders who mail their entry, along with entry fee of $150. Passengers are welcome. The additional cost of the passenger is $40 to cover the cost of one shirt, and one banquet ticket. There will be no separate couples class. Come join us on some of California's best motorcycle roads. I look forward to seeing everyone in June!
